Welcome to Cold Bay

The edge of the world.

Perched above the coastline in the heart of Cold Bay, Alaska, Izembek Lodge offers far more than just a place to stay — it offers an authentic gateway into one of the wildest and most breathtaking landscapes left in North America.

Surrounded by raw wilderness, endless coastline, volcanic mountains, tundra, and open water, the lodge sits between two legendary bodies of water — the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Bering Sea on the other — creating a landscape unlike anywhere else on earth. Every direction offers adventure, solitude, and unforgettable scenery.

Just beyond the lodge lies the world-renowned Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, one of Alaska's most important ecological treasures. Known globally for its massive eelgrass beds and critical wildlife habitat, the refuge serves as a major migration stop for hundreds of bird species and thousands upon thousands of migrating waterfowl traveling between Alaska, Asia, and South America. During migration, the skies come alive with Pacific black brant, emperor geese, sea ducks, cranes, shorebirds, and countless other species that make this region one of the premier birding and wildlife destinations in the world.

For outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, hunters, fishermen, hikers, and nature lovers, Cold Bay provides endless opportunities to explore untouched country and experience Alaska the way it was meant to be seen — wild, rugged, and alive. Guests can spend their days wandering vast tundra landscapes, glassing for wildlife, photographing dramatic coastlines, fishing remote waters, or simply taking in the silence and beauty of this remote frontier.

At Izembek Lodge, guests experience comfortable accommodations while remaining connected to the wilderness that surrounds them. Whether you are here for adventure, work, wildlife photography, bird watching, or simply to disconnect from the modern world, the lodge offers a warm and welcoming basecamp in one of Alaska's most extraordinary regions.

This is more than lodging.

This is Cold Bay.

This is the edge of the world.
